Fasting: The ancient practices

I probably take Christianity for granted because I am a Christian since birth due to my family religion not because of my choice. Even though I have been Christian for 24 years, i know little about fasting. This book shed light about what is fasting. The misunderstanding among Christian is that we use fasting to ask GOD to do our way, to ask for something. Its become not sincere because we want something in return. Its has been promoted as "super prayer" . If prayer not enough to ask GOD to let us have our way, then we use fasting.

This book correct the misconception about fasting and let us know what fasting is really about. In this book, fasting is divided into two part that is spirituality and fasting and wisdom and fasting. Part one, spirituality and fasting touch about how fasting make us connect more with our GOD and disciplining the body and take control of our own body. Sometimes we eat because of routine not because we really need it. Fasting give us clarity on the need of the food we eat to our body and make us relate better to the poor who have little to eat. Part two touch about the benefit of the fasting and the problem of fasting.

Its a very informative book and teach us moderation in fasting. I give this book 5star of 5star.

Hi!

I enjoyed reading your reviews. I did want to ask you about something you mentioned in this review though. In the first paragraph you said that you have been a Christian since birth but it's because of your family and not by choice. I want to make sure you know that, in order to truly become a Christian and live forever in Heaven with the Lord when you die, you must CHOOSE to accept God into your heart. It's not something that just happens because your family is a Christian family. If you don't understand what I mean or would like to dicuss it some more, I would love for you to email me at hilton.wendy@comcast.net.

Blessings,

Wendy
